Sara Gettys grew up in Norman, Okla. After earning her bachelor’s degree in English at Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, she attended graduate school at the University of Missouri, graduating with an M.A. in journalism in 2005.
She began working at The Yakima Herald-Republic in December of 2005. She has worked at newspapers in Columbia, Missouri; Portland, Ore. and Bakersfield, Calif.
