Rebekah Phelps-Roper of Topeka, Kan., was one of those protesting at Army Sgt. Larry Morrison's funeral in Yakima. Phelps-Roger is a member of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas, whose members maintain that people are being killed in Iraq as God's punishment for tolerating homosexuality. The protestors, on one side of Terrace Heights Drive, were met by American flag-carrying counter-protestors on the opposite side of the street. Morrison was killed while serving in Iraq. The protests and counter-protests were limited to shouting at each other across the road.
