The work isn’t always done when you get back to the office with a nice picture in camera.
I spent some time walking around the Cowiche Canyon Uplands trail last week trying to find some loose art. I got lucky in that I found a couple of folks that were walking up to go birdwatching. This was particularly lucky for me, since I was out looking to get a nice wildlife photo and have pretty minimal bird identifying experience.
With their help, I was able to find and identify this guy – he’s a Meadowlark.
I also got a photo of some wildflowers which proved significantly more difficult to identify. Lucky for me, the internet exists and I was able to determine both types of flowers in the photo in about an hour. For those curious, the yellow is Crocidium multicaule, or spring gold, and the red is Erigonum doubglasii, or Douglas’ buckwheat.
The more you know!
