Sometimes we spend a lot of time in court waiting to photograph a particular person as he or she makes an appearance before a judge. Waiting in court today I made some random observations.
It struck me how chaotic a courtroom can appear on some days, with attorneys waiting to speak to the judge, conferring with other attorneys, reviewing paperwork, etc. Add to this people (including the media) coming and going into the courtroom and it adds up to a very dynamic scene. And it also occurred to me that regardless of the apparent chaos every accused gets heard by the judge in a fair manner.
Something else caught my eye as well.
Attorney usually dress in shades of gray or dark blue. On this day, Yakima County prosecuting attorney Steven Jackson stood out for his light-colored suit as he was surrounded by darker attire.
Last, a man waits in a holding area of the courtroom before making a preliminary appearance in connection with a fatal shooting the night before. I always wonder what the accused are thinking at such times.
