This Fourth of July I ended up with a neighborhood heavy shift – and got to see two very different ways of celebrating around the valley.
The first, was the Linden Way Annual Patriotic Parade and friends potluck. A 44-year-old tradition that has grown and grown over the years. It was a sweet event; lots of neighbors and grandkids riding around on bikes, singing, and a potluck.
Next, I wandered over to a very different sort of party. The Aho housing development in Moxee goes wild for the Fourth. Fireworks are legal there, and every other house on the street seems to splurge on a bunch for themselves. Walking around the streets was a bit of a war zone, but in an amazingly visual way.
Needless to say, it was a Fourth filled with variety and tons of fun.
