I shoot high school football video highlights weekly during the fall — but rarely do I also shoot stills to go with it. We usually have two other photographers out at games, one of which is normally staffing the same contest that I’m shooting video at.
Last week though I had to pull double-duty though due to some vacation. It was my first time shooting football stills since last season, so although there was some rust to shake off, I was happy overall with the images that came out.
The field in Selah was not the best as far as lighting goes, but luckily I was able to use Kaitlyn’s 1D Mark IV instead of my 7D allowing me to keep the shutter high enough without a ton of noise from the high ISO, something I could not have achieved with my 7D.
Here are some of my favorite shots from the contest. I’ll be back at it this weekend pulling the double again — this time shooting Central Washington University’s game in the Seattle-area.
