There are times when we walk into a shoot without a ton of information. Today, I headed out to Tieton to photograph an author for El Sol and found myself front row to a community concert. The author, Yesenia Hunter, who’s in the very middle of this picture, also participates in a band. They were performing during a bazaar while selling her books.
The band, called Cazador, is made up of Yesenia, her husband, their children, and an assortment of friends. She laughed as she explained that you never really knew who or what instruments would be in the band. During the show, children of all ages were invited to come up and learn how to play the drum with their feet as they danced to the music.
Yesenia started writing because she wanted to record the lessons that she was passing down to her children. Seeing her family and friends perform, and the warmth that they greeted all of the people at the bazaar with, really solidified the meaning within the books.
