The game between rivals boys basketball teams Wapato and Toppenish lived up to its billing. Great athletics and high emotion are always a good combination for creating strong photos. Shooting the action is fine, but I like the emotional photos. I like photos that let the reader know how athletes really feel about what they’re doing out there, and that speak to how charged-up competitions can get. So when Wapato’s Shawn Craig blocked a shot from Toppenish’s Shannon Isadore during the fourth period, I kept the camera on him.
