Whenever possible I like to get to know my subjects. The better I know them, the better the photographs.
Sometimes, however, there are subjects who want to know me as well.

Over the years I’ve had a variety of animals including cats, dogs, horses, cows, goats and pigs get up close and personal as I am making photos. The worst that happens is a glob of slobber on the lens (Labrador dogs are especially generous slobberers). It can easily be wiped off with no damage to the lens or camera. Dogs and horses seem to be the most persistent and will repeatedly come back to my cameras. My only solution for attentive animals is to continue shooting and working the scene and hope they will eventually get bored and move on.
If anyone else has any other solutions, I’d love to hear ‘em.
