Wind pushed a long line of fire feeding on grass and sage quickly along the hillside, flames swirled around in canyon bottoms and sent up a lot of smoke. I had fire photos, but I waited a little longer. I didn’t have to leave for my next assignment for awhile. At first he was an almost imperceptible bump moving on the ridge, maybe a mouse or groundhog. Then he turned into a rabbit, and then a little farther into a dog. When he finally popped up over the ridge I could hardly believe my luck. There was a person right in the exact spot I needed a person to give my fire photo some context.
