After telling my friend, Claire, that I was going to be shooting the Treaty Days rodeo in White Swan, she commented that I have a really cool job. And I do. I have the best job in the world. Then I shared with her a text I got from my friend and fellow photojournalist Dean Knuth, who works for the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, Arizona. It said, “I’m at a reverse-vasectomy convention. I should tweet about this. The strange things we do at our jobs.” Yeah, sometimes we get assignments like that, too. Anyway, I did get to meet and photograph Shawn Best, Sr. at the rodeo. The guy is a legend. He’s 51 years old and still out there doing rodeo, and still winning. I shot this still of him before his ride, but I also produced a video.
