fresh — cupcake shoot
For this month’s fresh column in the Taste section, I made and photographed cupcakes. I wanted to share the lighting and styling set-up because I pretty much used just stuff from around my house. As the shoot evolved, I would add or move elements, making small adjustments but used things that everyone has lying around. I wanted to show you that it doesn’t take fancy equipment to make good pictures (although, yes, good cameras and lenses do help). It mostly takes a clear vision of what you’d like to see in the end product, a lot of patience and some ingenuity.
Here is the photo that was the result of this set-up. I used an approximately 80mm macro lens (I say approximately because it was a zoom and I wasn’t paying attention the whole time to what I had it set at) at f2.8.
