No, this image is not a “Photoshopped” composite. I did do some minor lightening and darkening like we do to most any photo, but nothing that would ruin the integrity of the image. So, how did I make the long time exposure of the valley and sky and not completely blow out the moon? Neutral density filter, maybe? Nope. It was lower-tech than that, even. I just put my hand in front of the lens and covered up the top of the frame where the moon is until the 30 second exposure was almost finished.
