We’re no. 3!

According to the 2009 Jobs Rated Report by CareerCast.com, photojournalism is the third-most stressful job today. A surgeon has the most stressful job with airline pilots the second-most stressful job. Photojournalism earns its place in the top three because “their jobs can require them to be on the frontline of every catastrophe, from wars to hurricanes to riots.” Also demanding work schedules with last-minute schedule changes add to the stress of a career in photojournalism. And while I agree our job can be stressful (shooting a state championship basketball game which starts a half-hour late comes to mind) I don’t think photojournalism is more stressful than say, a stay-at-home parent, a policeman or a NASCAR driver.
