Somehow a mistake on my part ended up on the front of our sports section. I’ll just call it incidental intelligence.
My camera back-focused on spectators as I was shooting during a state basketball tournament game last year. Turns out, it back-focused in a way that made the photo fit perfectly for a story about people who host teams for the tournament. Someone even knew their names. Go figure.
